What can you expect?
At your first visit Hermione will take a thorough history of your health profile including the presenting problem, and also what other illnesses/injuries you may have. She will also want to know about your lifestyle, work, home social life and even diet. All of these have some bearing on your present problem and help guide the subsequent examination and finally the treatment choices – all of which are thoroughly explained and discussed. You are encouraged to be an active participator in the process.
Treatment will continue as long as there is perceived improvement in the either your pain or in what you can do. If a treatment is found not to be working then it will be changed in order to achieve the desired outcome. With your agreement, the GP or other appropriate health professional will usually be kept informed of the outcome of any treatment.
Hermione believes that one of the secrets of good therapy is to engage and educate the patient during the treatment process, so that they can begin to take charge of their lives and not let their disabilities take charge of them.
